Hey everyone!
Since 2.5 has released here in the English version, we have had a couple of questions come up I wanted to clarify on.

I have EX8-073 Gallantmon (X Antibody) in play with BT19-011 WarGrowlmon ACE and EX5-070 X Antibody Proto Form in its digivolution cards. My opponent digivolves into BT20-079 Necromon, putting me to 1 memory. Necromon targets Gallantmon (X Antibody) with its [When Digivolving] effect, triggering X Antibody Proto Form’s inherited effect. Using the inherited effect of X Antibody Proto Form, I add the WarGrowlmon ACE from digivolution cards back to hand, causing the Overflow to put the memory at 2 on my opponent's side. At this time, is Gallantmon (X Antibody) deleted by the effect of Necromon, or not?

Gallantmon (X Antibody) will be deleted. At the time that Necromon’s effect is resolving, Gallantmon X is affected by the effect of Necromon, and it will be deleted, even if the memory gauge moves back to 0 or less.

The other question involves effects like BT20-053 Grademon from the Chronicle deck and if an opponent’s attack also fulfills the condition of “if during an attack.”

Yes, if the effects trigger and activate during an opponent’s attack, effects like that of Grademon will be able to apply.

That’s all that I have for you today. I hope everyone is as excited for unification next month as I am! Have a great rest of your week!

Hey everyone!
First off, I hope you all had a good holidays and enjoyed your Finals events if you had them already. I hope those of you who are preparing for Finals are excited and ready for the event!
On to the task at hand, there have been a handful of questions that have started to come up more after the release of EX8 Chains of Liberation that I wanted to shed some light on.

My opponent has 2 BT8-071 Psychemon in play. It is my turn and the memory is at 0. I wish to use the effect of EX8-074 MedievalGallantmon to suspend 2 Digimon to reduce its play cost. What is the correct resolution?

In this scenario, you are unable to declare the effect of MedievalGallantmon since the cost will not allow for a legal play of playing MedievalGallantmon due to the effect of Psychemon. See 1-3-11 and 7-1-2-2 in the CRM.

I have EX8-029 Aegisdramon in play. My opponent plays EX5-060 Dragomon, using the [On Play] effect to make me play a P-162 Coelamon from the trash. The memory is now on my side at more than 1.Am I able to activate the [On Play] effect of Coelamon?

In this scenario, you are able to activate the effect of Coelamon. This is due to the effect of Aegisdramon making your DS trait Digimon unaffected by Digimon effects, and Dragomon's effect is what is stopping Coelamon from being able to activate its [On Play] effect.

The final update involves the Unsuspend Phase and [Start of Turn] effects. Some may have noticed the update to the CRM referencing that [Start of Your Turn] effects take place before the unsuspending part of the Unsuspend Phase (6-2-1-1), which caused some confusion.
The CRM update was intended. [Start of Turn] timing effects are now a part of the Unsuspend Phase now. I also confirmed a few other aspects of this too:

If a [Start of Your Turn] effect causes a Digimon to unsuspend but that Digimon has an effect stating that it will not be able to unsuspend during the unsuspend phase, will that Digimon not be able to unsuspend by that [Start of Your Turn] effect?

The Digimon will not be able to unsuspend since [Start of Your Turn] effects occur as part of the Unsuspend Phase.

If a [Start of Your Turn] effect causes BT8-057 Shivamon to unsuspend, would that trigger the [All Turns] effect of Shivamon?

Yes, Shivamon's [Your Turn] effect will trigger.

If a [Start of Your Turn] effect causes memory to move to the opponent's side, am I able to unsuspend my Digimon?

No, you will not be able to unsuspend your Digimon and [End of Turn] timing will occur. This is how it has always been and will continue to follow the same ruling. 6-6-2 in the CRM references this - please don't overthink the use of the word "processing" that the CRM uses. Due to how the [Start of Your Turn] and the actually unsuspending are ordered in the Unsuspend Phase, the unsuspending does not occur since the turn ended during the [Start of Turn] timing segment.

The Q&A for the Unsuspend Phase states that [Start of Your Turn] and the Unsuspend Phase are different!

The Bandai team has been made aware and they will adjust the Q&A in the future.

I have a token Digimon and a [BT15-042 Magnadramon] with [EX7-027 Chaperomon] in its digivolution cards in play. I have [EX3-014 Dorbickmon] and [BT14-018 Goldramon] in hand. I am at 0 memory. I declare DigiXros using Magnadramon in play and Goldramon in hand, for a play cost of 9. When I would place the materials, I activate the inherited effect of Chaperomon, deleting the token to prevent that Magnadramon from leaving play.

- I reveal Dorbickmon, declare DigiXros.
- I select Magnadramon and Goldramon as the material to be placed.
- Just before placing in sources, the Magnadramon prevents its removal with Chaperomon's inherited effect by deleting the token.
- The only card able to be placed under Dorbickmon is Goldramon, thus only reducing the cost of Dorbick by 2 - 11 play cost.
- I cannot pay the cost for Dorbickmon and it is returned to hand. The Goldramon was placed for DigiXros and will be sent to Trash. Magnadramon will stay in the Battle Area.

I digivolve one of my Digimon into BT18-072 AncientBeetlemon. Using AncientBeetlemon’s [When Digivolving] effect, am I able to < De-Digivolve > one of the selected Digimon by 1 and the other Digimon by 2?

No. Both of the chosen Digimon must be < De-Digivolve > by the same amount. Either both 2 or both 1. This is closest related to 15-11-1 in the CRM. The EN CRM has it listed as singular "stack of cards" but the JP CRM is more on it being "stack(s) of cards". This may require an update to the CRM. I will follow up with the Bandai team.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Hello everyone!
Recently, there has been some discussions about < Blast DNA Digivolve> and needing to meet regular DNA Digivolution requirements or not due to a confusing email response from Carddass. I have received confirmation from the developers on the topic.

The CRM states with 15-30-5 that < Blast DNA Digivolve> doesn’t ignore normal DNA Digivolve requirements.

Example:
My opponent has an Angewomon that is being affected by BT18 Duskmon’s [On Play] effect, changing its color to Red. If I attack my opponent while they have EX6 Mastemon ACE and a Purple LadyDevimon in hand, they CANNOT use the < Blast DNA Digivolve> of Mastemon ACE since the Angewomon in play is Red and not Yellow.

Mastemon ACE has DNA requirements of a Yellow Lv 5 and Purple Lv 5. The < Blast DNA Digivolve> requirements are Angewomon and LadyDevimon. Both conditions must be met in order to successfully < Blast DNA Digivolve> into Mastemon ACE.

Hope this clears things up for everyone.
Happy Thanksgiving to this in the US and happy holidays to everyone in general!

- You have a Black Digimon with 12000 DP and BT1 Bebydomon in its sources while also having BT4 Golemon and Promo Sunarizamon in play. If the Golemon is deleted, will the 12000 DP Black Digimon still have Piercing and +2000 DP?
No, with the Golemon now gone, both Bebydomon and Sunarizamon no longer meet the conditions at the same time, so that Digimon no longer has Piercing or +2000 DP.

- For the effect of BT6 Gundramon (or EX7 Gundramon as well I guess) [When Digivolving] effect, does the [Main] effect of the Option resolve before or after the effect that used the Option finishes resolving? And what zone does it resolve in?
The [Main] effect of that card will be activated during the effect that uses the option. According to the rules for the using of optionc cards, that card does not belong to any zone until the [Main] effect has resolved.
Example:
1. [BT6-065 Gundramon] digivolves, revealing the top six cards of my deck, and used [EX7-070 Del Blitz] among them.
2. Activate the [Main] effect of [EX7-070 Del Blitz] to delete one of my opponent's Digimon with the lowest play cost. After that, place this card in [Gundramon]'s digivolution cards (during this time, the cards in the deck being revealed by the effect of [BT6-065 Gundramon] will remain revealed).
3. Once the [Main] effect of [EX7-070 Del Blitz] has resolved, return the remaining revealed cards to the top or bottom of the deck.

Good afternoon everyone! And long time no speak lol

Recently, there has been questions about [BT18-096 Lord of Devastation and Rebirth] and "...Tamers with different colors..."

Some players have been confused on what exactly "Tamers with different colors" entailed. For the effect of BT18-096, people have asked wether or not they would be able to use a combination of Tamers such as: 2 BT18-089 Tommy Himi, 1 BT18-90 Zoe Orimoto, and 1 BT18-088 Takuya Kanbara & Koji Minamoto.

This combination of Tamer is legal for all 4 colors for the effect of BT18-096. In this case, one Tommy is referred to as Blue, the other Tommy is referred to as Red, Zoe is referred to as Green, and Takuya & Koji is referred to as Yellow. Due to each card having a color "part" that it can be referred to that does exactly match one of the other Tamers chosen, you are able to use them as "different colors" by the game rules.

An example of an incorrect combination would be: 1 BT7-085 Takuya Kanbara, 2 BT18-089 Tommy Himi, and 1 BT18-90 Zoe Orimoto.

This combination is not legal for all 4 colors for the effect of BT18-096. In this example, Takuya is your Red, one Tommy is your Blue, and Zoe is your Green. Since the second Tommy has both of its colors chosen already (Red = Takuya and Blue = Tommy 1), the second Tommy cannot be used as a 4th "different color" for BT18-096.

This ruling is cover as part of the Japanese CRM 4-23-2. The rule doesn't mean that one of the colors of a card doesn't exist, but it is a rule that allows you to refer to cards that are the same color but also have different colors. This section will ideally be added in a coming English CRM update.

Hey everyone!

Recently, players have been asking and questioning whether Fenriloogamon was able to play BT14-006 Bowmon from trash since Fenriloogamon reads, “You may play 1 level 4 or lower card with the [Dark Animal] or [SoC] trait from you trash…”

Fenriloogamon is not able to play Bowmon with its effect. The reasoning for this is due to Bowmon being a Digi-Egg card that does not have a play cost. Cards without a play cost cannot be “played.”

With the release of BT17 coming up in a few months, this interaction has more chance of occurring so it is best for the judges to familiarize yourself with this when/if the question arises at events.

Also, some players already have already experienced this but going forward for premiere events, the Digimon Card Game TRM has been updated to state that the events will play the specified number of rounds listed at the start of the event based on player count. Events will not end when there is a player with only game wins.

In preparation for the upcoming release of BT15 Exceed Apocalypse, there have been some questions regarding a few cards and their interactions that are not covered in the JP QnA. I will address some of them now.

Q1 When activation the [When Digivolving] effect of ST10-06 Mastemon to add a BT15-037 Gatomon from trash to my security, if I play that Gatomon from my security, does the effect of BT15 Gatomon trigger?

A1 Yes. The Gatomon that is played and the security is reduced simultaneously. This causes the Gatomon to trigger and gain a memory from its [All Turns] effect.

Q2 I have in play a suspended BT11-058 HerculesKabuterimon (X Antibody) with BT15-053 HerculesKabuterimon and a Lv 5 in its digivolution cards. If my opponent digivolves into an EX3-013 Chaosdramon, activating its [When Digivolving] effect to add three cards to its digivolution cards to < De-Digivolve 1 > 3 times on my HerculesKabuterimon (X Antibody), will it trash the HerculesKabuterimon or will it stop at it due to its [All Turns] effect?

A2 Since each instance of < De-Digivolve 1 > happens in sequence and checks the top card of the Digimon, after one instance of < De-Digivolve 1 >, the top card will be BT15-053 HerculesKabuterimon, and thus be unaffected by the effect of Chaosdramon, and the trashing will stop at HerculesKabuterimon. This would not be the case if the effect was a < De-Digivolve 3 > effect since that would not check between each trashed card and would happen nonstop.

Hope this helps to clear up some questions.

After the release of EX05 Animal Colosseum in Japan, their was a QnA entry for EX05-069 Biting Crush that stated:

Q - If my opponent's BT13-020 ShineGreymon: Burst Mode's effect makes [Marcus Damon] become a Digimon, can I activate the < Delay > effect of this card?

A - Yes, you can

This contradicted my previous post saying that a [Marcus Damon] played out by ShineGreymon: Burst Mode would not be able to trigger cards such as BT13-102 Keenan Crier.

I have gotten confirmation that my original post is still correct. This means that when a [Marcus Damon] is played by the effect of ShineGreymon: Burst Mode, the effect of Keenan Crier and Biting Crush WILL NOT trigger. This is due to the [Marcus Damon] being played as a Tamer during the first part of the effect and not yet becoming a Digimon until later into the second sentence of the effect.

This is not to be confused with effects such as BT4 RizeGreymon being a [Your Turn] effect. Those effect happen immediately due to how [Your Turn] and [All Turns] effect are ruled as being active instantly that the card is confirmed to be in play. The effect of ShineGreymon: Burst Mode being separated as a different sentence in the effect is one of the key factors that makes this interaction work the way it does.

With the Finals events for this year being confirmed as EX5 formats for NA (and OCE I believe?), I want to make sure that all relevant rulings are up to date for everyone testing for the event!

The QnA for Biting Crush on the Japanese site will be updated at a later date.

Over the past few weeks since the release of BT13, some questions have come up that had mixed answers due to conflicting Carddass emails. I have contacted the developers and here are the answers to those questions.

A Carddass email stated that when a player uses the When Attacking effect of MirageGaogamon: Burst Mode, after selecting the cards to bottom deck, they could look at the cards and then choose their order to go to the bottom. This is incorrect. The MirageGaogamon: Burst Mode Player can select the order the cards go to the bottom, but that player is not allowed to look at the cards at any point, just as the card states. The owner of the cards going to the bottom of the deck can though.

Next, there has been debate on when ShineGreymon: Burst Mode plays a Marcus Damon, is that Marcus treated as a Digimon immediately when it is played, allowing BT13 Keenan Crier to trigger and effect like Crimson Blaze to stop it from being played.

When the Marcus is played by ShineGreymon: Burst Mode, the Marcus is played by that effect as a Tamer. Then, after it has entered the Battle Area it is treated as a Digimon by the second part of the effect of ShineGreymon: Burst Mode. This means that the Marcus does not trigger Keenan and can be played even when under the effect of Crimson Blaze.

You CAN Burst Digivolve in the Breeding Area as the JP QnA states.

There was a Carddass email that stated there was a rule change involving Hidden Potential Discovered! When digivolving a Tamer into a Hybrid Digimon. Before, it was ruled that you would not be able to suspend the digivolving Tamer for the lingering effect of HPD.

This has been changed. Now, it is a legal action to suspend the Tamer that is digivolving into a Hybrid Digimon since it is being treated as a Digimon mid digivolution. Note: this may still be up for some discussion. If something changes, I will adjust this post and make an update!

There has also been some discussion regarding the rule book stating that when a player uses an option card, it is “placed” in the Battle Area. The manual reads, “Place the Option card in the field from your hand,…” This isn’t the same as “placing an Option card in the Battle Area." Some players have been saying that when using BT9-110 Seiken Meppa, it triggers the inherited effect of BT13 King Drasil_7D6. This is incorrect.

Seiken Meppa does not trigger King Drasil_7D6. King Drasil_7D6 only triggers when cards with a < Delay > effect (such as Royal Knights of the Purge) are placed in the Battle Area since they are actually placed in the Battle Area. Other Option cards aren’t actually “placed” in the Battle Area but are “revealed” from hand by placing on the board.

While on the topic of Seiken Meppa, there was a question of when it fully resolves and is sent to the trash when you activate the When Digivolving effect of a Jesmon GX. The exact question was: I activate Seiken Meppa, targeting Jesmon GX to activate it’s When Digivolving effect. I place BT13 LordKnightmon with the effect of Jesmon GX and activate LordKnightmon’s When Digivolving effect. Am I able to add Seiken Meppa back to hand? To which the answer is NO.

The effect resolves as follows:
Use Seiken Meppa -> Unsuspend Jesmon GX and activate its When Digivolving effect fully, which ends in a < Blitz > -> When Attacking effects are triggered -> Seiken Meppa goes to the trash -> When Attacking effects activate.

Ever since the announcement of the ST15/16 WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon ACE cards as box toppers for BT13, there has been a lot of discussion about whether or not those cards would be legal for official tournament play.

I am excited to announce that the ACE cards WILL BE LEGAL for the EN BT13 format!

The addition of the ACE mechanic does come with some rule changes as many of you know. These will be reflected and updated soon on the official website by next weekend at the latest from what I have heard. Judges, be sure to brush up on these changes for upcoming event. Players, please do the same and feel free to leave any questions that haven’t already been answered in the Rules Questions forums in the Discord.

The ACE cards, as well as BT13 in general, will be legal for premiere event play the week after official release, July 28.

Excited to see how our BT13 format will play out!

I have been informed that due to an error on the website, it doesn’t list BT2-047 Argomon and BT3-103 Hidden Potential Discovered! as cards that are restricted. These cards are still restricted to 1 for both Regional and Ultimate Cup events.

If you are playing, make sure to build your decks accordingly.

If you are judging, please make sure to keep an eye out during deck list review before the event starts. Make sure the players know as well for those that may not see this message.

Sorry for the inconvenience. It should be updated to correctly reflect the cards as restricted in the coming week or so.

Awhile back there was an email from Carddass where they doubled down on a ruling that was incorrect. It involved EX3 Guilmon being deleted with a BT12 Gigimon in its sources.

The correct is as follows:

I have EX3-056 Guilmon with BT12-001 Gigimon in its digivolution cards in play. My opponent has ST13-10 Gladimon (basically a Digimon with 4k DP) in play. I attack my opponent with Guilmon and it gets deleted in the security battle. Can the [On Deletion] effect of Guilmon delete the Gladimon?

No. The effect of Gigimon's [Your Turn] effect does not affect the [On Deletion] effect of Guilmon because the effect is lost when Guilmon is moved to the trash.

This is the same basic principle for effects such as BT11 MetalTyrannomon's inherited effect. These [Your Turn] effects cannot activate if the Digimon is deleted and sent to trash.

Recently, there has been some conflict on how properly resolve a situation involving Machinedramon. Until I get full clarity from the developers, this is how the situation will be ruled for the time being.

I have a BT11-092 Analog Man in play. I use BT9-102 Attack of the Heavy Mobile Digimon!. I play BT11-072 Machinedramon, passing the memory to 10 on my opponent’s side, activating its [On Play] effect, adding a Cybord to its digivolution cards. I then activate [On Play] < Blitz > to attack my opponent’s security. Machinedramon is deleted by the security battle, triggering its [On Deletion] effect. By returning Analog Man to the bottom of the deck, I play EX1-073 Machinedramon from my hand, activating its [On Play] effect to add 5 different Level 5 Cyborg Digimon from my Trash, gaining 5 memory, and then activating [On Play] < Blitz >. Can the newly played Machinedramon attack using < Blitz >?

The current ruling is EX1-073 CANNOT attack. This is due to the Attack Flow Chart detailing that the attack from BT11-072 Machinedramon hasn’t finished yet. And since you cannot attack while an attack is already occurring, EX1-073 cannot attack.

Another discussion that recently came up was if players that judge at the local level can judge and play in a local event at the same time.

The answer is YES, they can judge and play at the same time but only for LOCALS level events. The TRM sees these as casual events with little at stake and seen as a friendly and casual environment. As long as the LGS is fine with them both playing and judging, there is nothing else that would prevent them from doing so.

On the other hand, for things such as Store Championships and Premiere Events, judges CANNOT judge and play at the same time. There is significantly more at stake prizing wise so there is a significant conflict of interest. This follows what the TRM details about people who are not eligible for events.

Regarding this ruling question asked several weeks ago, I have confirmation. The question was

I have BT10-026 DeckerGreymon with BT8-038 Magnamon in its digivolution cards and EX2-064 Alice McCoy in play. I attempt to digivolve DeckerGreymon into BT9-044 Magnamon (X Antibody). I then use Alice to attempt to delete the DeckGreymon to reduce the digivolution cost. I activate Armor Purge to prevent the deletion and thus preventing the reduction of the digivolution cost. At this point, my target for digivolution is a Magnamon instead of DeckerGreymon. What is the digivolution cost that is paid, if there is one?

The correct ruling for this situation is as follows:

In the situation in question, since the digivolution requirements specified when digivolution was declared are no longer met, the digivolution cannot be performed and the Magnamon X that was revealed for digivolution is returned to hand.

In a follow up, what if the Magnamon in source was replaced by a BT10-024 MetalGreymon, the correct ruling is:

Since the digivolution requirements that were declared can still be met (3 from Lv. 5 Blue), the digivolution can continue.

Recently there has been some debate on how the effects of [Shoutmon (King Version)] work. The official ruling for the [On Play] effect of the card is as follows:

The effect of [BT10-111 Shoutmon (King Version)] to substitute itself as a Digi Xros requirement is part of the On Play effect. The effect will only last for the turn that it is played. It cannot be used as a substitute material the turn after being played or while in the hand.
